Donné Mortge – Teacher at Cape Studies
Donné was born in East London, which is in the Eastern Cape in South Africa. She only recently moved to Cape Town and says she absolutely loves living in this beautiful, laid-back, cosmopolitan city! She started working at Cape Studies at the beginning of the year and she is very excited to be part of such a great team. What impressed her most about the school is the individual attention that students receive, as well as the dedication of the teachers.
At school, English (especially English grammar!) was one of her favourite subjects so she decided to pursue it further after high school. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Rhodes University, with major subjects in English and Drama. She also studied French for a short while because she enjoys languages.
After university, Donné chose to pursue another of her interests – travel. She lived in the United Kingdom for two years and this is where she discovered her passion for teaching. She was lucky enough to be able to work right in the busy city centre of London, teaching English to students from all over the world.
Donné loves teaching because, firstly, she enjoys meeting and interacting with people of all ages and cultures. And secondly, helping others achieve their learning goals is very important to her.
Donné’s interests include reading, music, film, travel and spending time outdoors, especially at the seaside. She also loves finding new ways of making her lessons fun and interesting. For her, the best feeling in the world is when her students are all laughing, smiling, having a good time and enjoying one another’s company, whilst learning at the same time.
